MARY MASSAGES
in KEY WEST

Mary Yardley has been a licensed massage therapist since 2015. After attending the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, Florida, she returned to Key West and practiced in a luxury spa setting for 6 years. In 2024, she started her private practice at Tranquility Spa. Breathwork and meditation is a large influence in Mary's work. In 2022, she began studying the Biodynamic Cranial Approach with Giorgia Milne which combines her love of healing through touch and meditation. She has found rhe subtle work has been powerful and transformative. Mary offers an intuitive massage catered to each individual. Pulling from different modalities, she uses an array of techniques to achieve deep relaxation that leads to the body’s ability to heal. With a combination of stretching, myofascial release and knowledge of structural integration, Mary explores the most effective techniques unique to each client.

MODALITIES

Many different styles of massage exist, and if you see enough massage therapists, you will realize that no two therapists practice in the same manner. In my ten years of working, I have mostly studied 4 main modalities: Connective Tissue Therapy, Cranial Work, Active-Isolated Stretching. With my experience in the luxury spa setting and my dedication to yoga, meditation and Pranayama (breath work), I am able to pull from an extensive library of relaxation tools to offer a deep and relaxing session . In my sessions, I use whichever modality allows your body to let go and relax. Whether you come to recover from an injury, want to feel better in your body, or simply want to slip away into quiet stillness, we can work together to help you orient to the wholeness of you and your health.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage This approach is what many people think of as a traditional massage. It is used to influence better blood circulation, decrease muscle tension, and enhance overall relaxation. The strokes are long and flowing, and the therapist uses either oil or a slippery cream to glide across the skin and rhythmically treat the muscle tissues below. The pace varies from slow to brisk and the pressure adjusts to the client’s comfort.
Connective Tissue Therapy
Connective Tissue Therapy is very different from Swedish Massage — the therapist uses very little lubricant and the pace is very slow. This more specific approach addresses adhered tissues in the body and positively influences posture. Clients often report feeling lighter, taller, or experiencing dramatic improvements in their comfort. When performed with skilled hands, this work tends to be very relaxing and meditative.
Biodynamic Cranial Approach
Biodynamic Cranial Approach or Touch of Presence® Designed to help you reconnect to the forces in the body which guide healing, growth and development, this work is pure stillness. There are no “strokes” in this approach, just gentle holds or contacts, and clients stay fully clothed. Holds or contacts are gentle, and the results vary greatly from deeper states of relaxation, to greater ease in the body, better sleep, deeper sense of presence & awareness, and even cessation of pain. Receiving the work is a great opportunity to stop, let go, and enter deeper meditative states.

“People don’t understand that the hardest thing is to do something that is actually close to nothing. It’s demanding all of you, because there is no story anymore to tell, there’s no objects to hide behind, there’s nothing, there’s just pure presence. ~ Marina Abramovic
Biodynamic Craniosacral Approach
Wholeness as Health is one of the main guiding principles of the work. It comes from a biodynamic perspective informed by the late Embryologist Erich Blechschmidt. The forces that create us, also maintain us, and continue to influence our growth, development, and evolution. Viewing through the eyes of wholeness is an all-encompassing instinctive nature of direct-sense perception, and it requires letting go of all notions or ideas of “doing" entering into a state of "being," thus allow the system to relax and rest into wholeness, When a practitioner orients to wholeness with unwavering presence, sensing into what IS without trying to fix anything, the client’s system can rest back, and the work deepens into other rhythms and depths beyond the tides. Without looking for anything in particular, resting in presence with open awareness, we orient to wholeness which is where the health is. This is where our attention goes — to wholeness and health.
Preparing for a sessions:
These sessions orient to wholeness as health and are a shift in approach from the usual symptom-diagnosis-treatment plan. These sessions trust the natural inherent wisdom and intelligence of your own systemThe touch is safe, gentle and respectful. It involves far less moving than you may be accustomed too. Depth over time is how these restorative states are accessed. As you learn to acclimate to this slowing down inside yourself you may directly experience the restorative forces that orchestrated your early growth and formation. They are still active in our general health maintenance and balance. The session is about reconnecting with your source, your origin of emergence and wisdom. You will be invited to let go of your ordinary way of perceiving from your head center to sense- perceive from within your whole body
During the session:
Allow your awareness to descend from your head center into your body and settle into your heart space or lower belly. This connects you with the whole of your being, and your health. Simply rest there and be with what is, as it is.You may encounter all manner of phenomenology: memories, emotional issues, thoughts, feelings and spiritual insights. When they arise, understand that these are the exact aspects of yourself that consciousness has chosen to bring to your awareness. By remaining neutrally present to these aspects, the separate parts rejoin the wholeness that you are.
We are always, and in all ways, a complete functional whole.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Review

Hands down, best massage I had in Key West! One of the highlights of our trip! - Melissa.

"Mary is amazing. I don't want to say she can work miracles, because that might sound over the top, but it sure feels miraculous when she finds and "fixes" what ails you. Mary was able to get me back in the game and keep me running when other remedies had failed and I will be forever grateful. Mary is knowledgable and professional and I can recommend her without hesitation." -Dallas Doctor
